Attorney at law and aviation policy advisor
Prof. Dr. iur. Regula Dettling-Ott, is an attorney and government affairs specialist in aviation. From 2010 until 2016 she was Vice-President EU Affairs for the Lufthansa Group in Brussels, handling EU regulatory and industry affairs for the Lufthansa Group, representing the Group before the EU Commission, the EU Parliament and the Council.
Prior to working for Lufthansa, Regula Dettling-Ott was in charge of International Relations & Government Affairs at Swiss International Air Lines. Before joining SWISS, she worked as an attorney for many years (partner in a Swiss law firm), specializing in air law, including liability matters and accident investigations after major air disasters as well as regulatory matters such as traffic right issues and airport regulation. In the course of the integration of SWISS into the Lufthansa Group, Regula Dettling-Ott was in charge of securing the traffic rights for SWISS.
Between 1987 and 1995 Regula Dettling-Ott lived and worked in Mexico; from 1993 until 1995 she founded and led the Swiss School in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Regula Dettling-Ott is a graduate of the University of Bern (Switzerland) and has done post-graduate studies at Georgetown University (Washington D.C). She holds a doctorate of the University of Bern (Settlement of investment disputes through ICSID – summa cum laude) and is a member of its faculty (Habilitation 1993 with a book on International and Swiss Air Transport Law). She lectures on air law, has published extensively on various subjects in aviation and participated in many global aviation conferences as a speaker and panelist.
