Prof. Dr. iur. Regula Dettling-Ott is a lawyer specialising in aviation law and policy. From May 2017 until May 2023 she was the chair of the Performance Review Body of the Single European Sky (PRB), an expert body of the European Commission.
From 2010 to 2016, she worked for the Lufthansa Group as Vice-President EU Affairs at the EU in Brussels. She was responsible for representing the interests of the Lufthansa Group vis-à-vis the EU Commission, accompanying legislative proposals in the EU Parliament and the European Council, and legal proceedings at the EU Commission.
Before joining the Lufthansa Group, Regula Dettling-Ott was responsible for Industry Relations & Government Affairs at Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and worked as a lawyer. In connection with the integration of SWISS into the Lufthansa Group, she was responsible for securing the traffic rights. After aircraft accidents, she settled the liability claims of injured parties for airlines and helicopter companies and their insurers and accompanied the aircraft accident investigation from a legal perspective. She represented airlines in the proceedings for new operating regulations for Zurich Airport.
From 1987 to 1995 Regula Dettling-Ott lived and worked in Mexico; from 1993 to 1995 she founded and directed the Swiss School in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Regula Dettling-Ott studied and completed her doctorate in Bern (Settlement of Investment Disputes through Arbitration - The Practice of ICSID, summa cum laude). She studied and conducted research at Georgetown University (Washington D.C) as a Kronstein Fellow/scholarship holder of the Swiss National Science Foundation. In 1993 she habilitated at the University of Bern (International and Swiss Air Transport Law).
As a part-time lecturer, Regula Dettling-Ott teaches air law at the University of Bern and runs the annual continuing education seminar for practitioners in Lenzburg. She is a regular speaker at international aviation conferences and has published numerous articles.
